How to Measure Your Head for a Hat Size

A hat size starts with your head circumference: the distance around your head where the hat will sit. Measure that first, then compare it with the size information for the specific hat. A letter such as M is not enough on its own to confirm the fit of every style.

1. Measure where you normally wear your hat

Use a soft measuring tape. Wrap it once around your head, just above your eyebrows and above your ears, following the position where you normally wear your hat. Keep the tape level and resting against your head without pulling it tight.

Take the tape off and measure again. Record both readings. If they differ, check the tape position and repeat rather than choosing a size from an uncertain measurement.

Write down your head circumference in both centimeters and inches. If your tape only shows one unit, use the conversion 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters: divide centimeters by 2.54 to get inches, or multiply inches by 2.54 to get centimeters. Keep your measured number rather than rounding it to a hat size.

2. Match your measurement to the individual product page

Compare your head circumference with the product-specific size chart on the hat's page. Use the centimeter or inch measurements listed for that hat; do not assume that a size letter has the same measurement across different styles.

The general Size Guide can help you understand the measuring process, but it does not establish a missing centimeter measurement for a particular hat. If a product page lists only size letters and has no product-specific circumference chart, email support@shopcoldhoney.com before choosing.

3. If you fall between two sizes, ask before ordering

If your measurement falls between the listed sizes, or you cannot get a consistent reading, contact support@shopcoldhoney.com first. Include the product name, your two measurements and the units you used. We do not have a verified rule to recommend sizing up or down for every hat.
